Hill Street Parking Deck
The most convenient parking in Downtown Champaign is the Hill Street Parking Deck. Enjoy 600 covered secure parking spaces just steps away from the heart of the action. The deck also eliminates the need to carry pockets of quarters as it accepts all major forms of credit and debit cards.
Many Downtown retailers validate parking in the deck. Look for the Validation logo in participating store windows.
On Street Meters
Parking on-street is convenient and priced at multiple price points to give you the most choices. Downtown has a tiered pricing system meaning that parking close to the core will generally cost $.75/hour while parking a block or two away can lower the cost to $.50 and $.25 per hour.
Look for the colored meter stickers to determine how long you can stay in that space between 8AM and 5PM.
Green - 10 hour max
Blue - 2 hour max
Red - 30 minute max
Time limits are not enforced after 5:00 PM although payment is required until 9:00 PM.

Pay Station Lots
Both Illinois Terminal and the Walnut and Washington Street Lot use automated pay stations.
These lots accept cash, coin and all major credit and debit cards.

University Parking Decks
The University of Illinois operate two Parking Decks in Campustown
John Street Deck (Sixth and John Street)
Fifth Street Deck (Fifth and Daniel Street)
These decks are available for public parking after 6:00 PM Monday through Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday's. Please obey any signed 24 hour lease parking spaces.
University Parking Lots
Many of the parking lots in the core campus area are leased 24 hours a day however some area available for evening and meter parking. Please obey all posted signs while parking in University lots.
On-Street Leased Spaces
The City of Champaign has marked many on-street spaces in the University District for residential leasing. Please do not park in spaces marked for this purpose and obey all posted signs throughout the District.

Illinois Terminal - Downtown
Illinois Terminal in Downtown is the hub of the CUMTD's region wide bus system. Nearly all routes across Champaign and Urbana route through the Terminal making it one of the easiest destinations to reach. A standard ride cost $1, one-way, with free transfers from route-to-route. Coins are preferred, but drivers can make change for up to $5 prior to 7 p.m. Exact cash is required after that time. Seniors and Medicare Card holders may travel for $.50 or free with a DASH Pass. Children who are 46 inches or shorter in height may ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying passenger.
Wright Street Transit Plaza - Campustown
Buses cover the entire campus area and converge on at the Transit Plaza on Wright Street John Street and Daniel Street. A standard ride is free with a University ID card and $1, for one-way trips, with free transfers from route-to-route. Coins are preferred, but drivers can make change for up to $5 prior to 7 p.m. Exact cash is required after that time. Seniors may travel for $.50 or free with a DASH Pass. Biking through our districts can often be easier and faster than driving. Numerous new bike lanes make the journey between districts easy. Bike parking is available at loops throughout Downtown, Midtown and Campustown. Covered parking is available in the Hill Street Parking Deck in Downtown at no charge. For additional convenience, bike repair stations have been installed in Downtown (Hill Street Parking Deck and Illinois Terminal) and in Campustown (Parking Lot J at Sixth and Green Street) Remember that it is illegal to ride your bike on sidewalks in our Center City Districts. Walk your bike on the sidewalks!
BICYCLE
Taking a taxi in Champaign-Urbana is easy. Taxis can use either a meter or zones to determine the rate. Generally rates can be as low as $2/per person to travel within the Campus area and increase the further you are from the city center.
